My wife and I differed a bit on the TARP bailout plan because she said the people who couldn't get this right months ago aren't necessarily going to get it right now, which is very possible.

Well if anyone can do the right thing and still mess it up, this administration has shown an uncanny ability to do just that. I also think it is finally maybe the right thing to do - and thank goodness the House didn't rubber stamp the first proposal of Paulsons.

At a lecture I went to two days ago, the speakers claimed that Germany's banks were also not hurt as bad as ours. They said that was because they were "the people's" banks. I'm not sure what the meant but assume it was something like we might trend to if the government infuses cash and we the people get a stake in the banks? Like the lack of atheist in a foxhole, those against socialist ideas are becoming few and far between.
