Hi cat,

You know I really can't confirm retail is dead from my blue collar part of the world.

Now keep in mind we just got our butts handed to us from hurricane IKE.

We are busy !!

We are selling trucks 0 gas is 2.79 a gallon and dropping fast.

3/4 ton duramax diesels were sell proof two months ago and we're about out of them - that's getting close to a brag.<smile>

I bought 9 vehicles thursday - most 500 to 1000 lower than what the summer prices were and 1500-2000 cheaper on the furl efficient little cars.

I believe there is a lot of pain out there in dealer world because they PANICED AND PAID WHATEVER TO GET FUEL EFFICIENT VEHICLES AND NOW THEY FROZEN THEIR INVENTORY WITH OVER PRICED SMALL CARS.

I propose that the credit crunch is much more financial world related ( wall street) than it is main street.

Keep in minfd community banks never had this problem - investment bank were levered up not depository banks.

We've been fed a lot of fear mongering by Paulson.

The people screwed are those with bad credit and upside down in their house - They better stay and pay for it or they'll never get another shot a t home ownership again.

If you have good credit - NO PROBLEM.

I think the big surprise of this Q4 2008 - is the big bounce back of the consumer after they realize they have good jobs and don't have to pay the huge energy tax we've had crammed up our buts at the fuel pump and from our friendly utilities.

JMHO

Bob

P.S. give American some extra monthly money - THEY WILL SPEND IT !!
