All you trendy leftie socialist nanny-statists hope that government regulation will make things work well. It's true that protection of private property, enforcement of contract, prosecution of theft and fraud and auction of the fraudster's body parts are highly desirable to maintaining a fine economic system, but a credit default swap is not an atomic bomb, it's just a contract. The parties can examine the financial viability of each other to see if it's worth agreeing.
