I certainly agree that whoever the President is - he will need lots of help in this area and that expecting him to understand this is likely unrealistic. Interestingly, Paulson has made errors that would not have been errors if done by GS. The deals he has cut have been TOO GOOD (for the government). And by cutting deals that are too good for the government - he has created an unintended consequence in leading the markets to believe that any company in financial difficulty will be destroyed. That has further locked up the financial system.
