Once when I was more affluent that I am today and after I had retired to Florida I was approached by all sorts of investment opportunities. My one big error was putting a great sum of money in a Asset Trust that invested off shore. It was supposed to be approved by SP and I checked and it was a legitimate investment. However, it was to protect taxes. Not that they were tax free but the tax bill was supposed to be lower. I think all wealthy persons have opportunities to invest in a way as to lower their tax bill. This investment paid a high percent dividend too. But alas it all went sour. I lost all my money and so I think that maybe someone advising Cindy McCain has better ideas as how to avoid taxes... There are lawyers and financial planners out there who have solutions... Probably the more affluent have better ones than I had.
