I don't think Apple will totally give up PowerPC, but it will port its Mac OS/Rhapsody onto Intel board. PowerPC is more powerful than Intel's, but PowerPC always has supply problems and is not as popular as Intel's in PC field. IBM/Motorola played very low profile on PowerPC, where no commercials I have ever seen on TV, magazines, or newpapers. I still would like to see more aggressive marketing efforts on PowerPC by IBM/Motorola, in order to boost its image, which will indirectly benefit to IBM/Motorola/Apple as a whole.
The relationship with Microsoft is a very positive steps towards stability and growth for Apple, since Microsoft has developed lots of Apple's application software and has promised to continue, which surely benefits to both companies.
In order to survive and thrive, Apple needs to established good relationship not only with Microsoft, but also with IBM/Motorola, or even with Intel in the future. Playing successfully with these big guys (IBM, Motorola, Microsoft, Intel), Apple needs extremely carefulness and luck.
