I am long now, heavily so in energy related issues. Sold some near the top, but not enough, and started buying a bit early. All this was hedged by a sizable short position, which I finished closing last Friday. All and all, of course, the the past couple of weeks were no fun. Re: Schwab. I was thinking about it last week. All those enormous sharp swings in the markets must have meant huge spreads. Buyers and sellers must have been throwing large volumes at the market, without adequate buying or selling presence on the other side. Air pockets. Lack of liquidity. It is entirely possible that the middlemen made big bucks on this bear, at least some of them. This is just a speculation, I don't have any info "from the field".
