Bart:

The telco's can't let the cable companies gain a large edge in the internet access market. If they do it will be difficult to win back share except on price (which means lower margins, profits, etc.) due to people being creatures of habit (i.e. if we like something we stick with it, unless there is a significantly better solution for less money). While we keep hearing about MSFT investing in cable co's to speed access and now INTC with HOME pretty soon ATT, GTE, etc will have to offer a competitive alternative or they will have a hard time catching up.

News like this will start to force the RBOC's to respond (although I believe NNBellboy has indicated the RBOC's have problems competiting under the law) and than means AMTX, etc. Hope its sooner rather than later.

Good investing.

Tim
