Probably. What is happening to McCain is a nightmare this close to an election, his negatives are going up and his opponents are going down. And that never works out. You can win if your negatives go up, but only if your opponents go down. When you cause your opponents negatives to go up, you risk being ignored in the future.

The great fear is the reach down ticket. There are a lot of seats that should be solid, but are now in play. Heck, there are even seats that should be solid and now are likely out of reach. Any more negatives and it could look like a shutout.

A so badly crippled Republican party would be a bad thing for this country. Single party rule always is, sooner or later.
