Wasn't Kristol urging the dialing down of personal insults and hatred and regurgitating of turds as a campaign strategy? How can just changing the discussion from Ayers to Wright in any way accomplish that?

Steve, I can't think of any serious way to say this any differently. So I guess we just disagree.

But to state it again, the Republicans argue a variety of things about these connections. Clearly they don't have a case for Obama sharing Ayers and Wright's views. So they've moved to "he hasn't come clean, what is he hiding." It doesn't have traction either since he gave a long speech about Wright and race. And, best I can tell, all the stuff about Ayers is in the public domain.

However, the other argument is that it's about Obama's judgment. Again, the argument about Ayers has no traction since they were not really related. But that argument about the Wright connection does have traction because Obama and Wright were close for a long time.

Now that's an argument that works only for folk who are bothered by Wright. Which definitely does not include me.
