Ed,

Deal. <g>

Speaking of Ducks' behavior, this gives me the opportunity to describe my first hand experience of these behavior patterns.

This spring a mallard duck nested in a bush close to our swimming pool. The morning the eggs hatched, the mother duck took the 16 hatchlings for a swim in the pool instead of the lake. Once in, unfortunately the duckings couldn't make the 6 inch jump to get out. The mama repeatedly demonstrated the jump to no avail. I was glad I saw their predicament 'cuz if not hunger and exhaustion, the hawks would have got 'em.

I jury rigged a make-shift ramp on to the steps and watched. It took awhile but as the mama continued her futile demonstrations two of the ducklings (liberals) wandered off to find the ramp. Pretty soon the majority of them (centrists?)had found the ramp. But three of the ducklings (conservatives for sure) kept trying to jump on to the ledge standing right next to the ramp, exactly like mama had demonstrated. The mama had to get back in the pool with all the other ducklings and get on the ramp, before these three would do so!
