SunPower and Naturener Complete Solar Power Plant in Badajoz, Spain
Tuesday October 14, 8:00 am ET

MADRID, Spain, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SunPower (Nasdaq: SPWRA - News, SPWRB - News), a manufacturer of high-efficiency solar cells, solar panels and solar systems, and The Naturener Group, a Spanish-based company, today dedicated a 7-megawatt solar electric power plant in Casas de Don Pedro, Badajoz, Spain. Solargen, a corporate affiliate of The Naturener Group, owns the plant.

SunPower installed its proprietary SunPower® Tracker solar tracking system at the site, covering a total of approximately 40 hectares or more than 98 acres. The SunPower Tracker follows the sun as it moves across the sky, increasing sunlight capture by up to 25 percent over conventional fixed-tilt systems.

"Naturener chose SunPower's innovative solar tracker technology as part of our turnkey solar solution," said Mario Riello, European sales director of SunPower. "The SunPower Tracker solar power system is a proven and reliable solution for maximizing the highest energy delivery, while optimizing land use and reducing related costs."

"This project extends our existing renewable portfolio of hydro and wind generation," said Rafael Sanchez-Castillo, CEO of Naturener Group. "We are pleased to work with SunPower and continue our expansion of renewable energy in the Spanish and North American markets."

SunPower has an office in Madrid and has completed construction of more than 150 megawatts of power plants in Spain.
