People on this thread are yellow dog dems and very liberal,

Honestly I think the republicans had better hire some good consultants and learn to deal with the mess they have made before they fade into obscurity. Your comment typifies the cluelessness.

I work in the SF bay area for a bunch of venture capitalists. Yes it is the SF bay area but a business center within it. As for me, my parents voted for Reagan and loved him when he was governor of CA. Your "side" if you want to call it that has completely amputated one of your limbs, the FISCAL CONSERVATIVE side of what once was the republican party. Thats a huge piece of your platform to lose. In defense of this right wing stupidity, they claim everybody who ever represented this side of the party is an "extreme liberal". Its ridiculous.

David Brooks is right. EVERY educated person is being branded by the few that are left as republicans as an "elite" or an "extreme liberal". This is EVERY educated person.

One of the reasons that Bill Kristol's concern about one party dominating the house, senate and executive is unconcerning to me is that WITHIN the democratic party today, are BOTH republicans and democrats from 30 years ago. The democratic party ITSELF is full of checks and balances and the right is so extreme, polarized and interbred (and IRRELEVANT) they can't see it anymore.
