Not that bombs cannot cook off, but that is why the non-military people make such frequent mistakes when trying to explain something. Most civilians have no idea how they ready and launch jets off a carrier. All they ever see is the launch. Fact is, as you probably know, arming weapons is the last thing that's done prior to final check and launch. I have a feeling he(the lier) probably copied that off some delux website like the dailykos....<g> This all got me thinking about being aboard the Lincoln. We were doing stepped up ops, the flight deck was really busy. I was standing at the safe shot line on the waist cat observing one of our birds launch. To keep safe, I developed a habit that saved my butt more than once. Whenever I found myself looking in one direction for more that 15 seconds I'd do a 360 degree scan.... in this case I looked to my right and noticed a F-18 moving towards me, no big deal... Then I did a double take and noticed the Aviation Ordnanceman that had his float coat hooked on a sidewinder missile, hanging there with his feet dangling......I managed to get the yellowshirts attention lol...........
