We have to watch all of Congress like the ole' Hawk....Seems like Medicare has many exclusions, which is what I THOUGHT I was buying the supplement insurance for...BUT turns out, if Medicare has an exclusion and won't pay for whatever, then NEITHER will your Supplement (I have "J" for about $179/mo in addition to the monthly Medicare part A and B....
FOr instance, youi can get an eye exam, but Medicare nor the supplement will pay for the refraction. And of course neither pay for glasses nor frames, etc. Same thing with hearing....Neither Medicare nor the Supplement will even help pay for hearing aids, which can run into serious money....$2,500-$7,500 or more for two)....
I thought that's what Supplements were for...to help with the things that Medicare didn't pay for...
So I asked the Supplement insurance the other day to send me a catalog of items they WOULDN'T cover.....as well as what they WOULD cover.
She wasn't amused. But then again, neither was I....
I'll save the other question sloshing around in my head till the next time.....Question: Do we have to have Medicare, then buy a Supplement, and buy a Drug Coverage (we did, in case we get something seriously bad), and do we have to have another Supplement on that supplement and another one on the Drug Coverage Supplement?????
When I light long enough, just for the heck of it, I'm going to call the AARP office to see what they say for information. |
