Koan,

You sound just like Elmat bragging about Brazil's sub-salt oil. But Alaska's heavy oil is also cold, so we might only be able to extract 10% of that 100 billion barrels.

Alaska NG and coal exports are both insignificant at the current time. Our NG is a major asset, but the world is full of more accessible NG. Our coal is low quality and far from markets.

Meanwhile, falling oil production and prices could take a large bite out of Alaska's budget surplus. I think our state government will be more careful about spending next year.
