It's a matter of temperament, to many leftists politics is their religion, and they embrace it with perfervid passion. (sorry, couldn't resist <g>) Many conservatives would rather tend their gardens than get political. Someone posted a Thomas Sowell column here recently that described liberals as heirs of the French Revolution and Robespierre and conservatives as heirs of the American Revolution. He was definitely on to something....
