Z, > Right, but there are plenty of Supreme Court cases that have established it from the wording of the First Amendment. Having the state (in this case, a public school) participate in a particular religion's ceremony does smell of "respecting an establishment of religion."

Such views are usually represented by activist judges who are fond of interpreting the Constitution in whatever way suits their own agendas. Such as the four SC justices who ridiculously thought the 2nd amendment was never intended to limit government power.

Anyway, turning public schools into religion-free zones ensures that the religion of atheism is free to drive whatever agenda it deems fit. You realize that atheism was argued by its adherents as a religion? (Before it wasn't, of course.)

Telling kids that homosexuality is OK and acceptable.

Many religions still consider homosexuality to be a sin, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Doesn't mean we should round up the homosexuals into concentration camps and paint pink triangles on them, but it does mean that if it's part of the public school curriculum, you're necessarily going to run smack into the beliefs of many families, especially those who can't afford private school.
