Who said anything about "the last 10 years", shorty? LOL! Your data is more then a little DATED. The shift to more registered "Independents" has been more recent vintage then 1998. <g> PS --- one other reason why a pollster might over-sample Independents (before mathematically downgrading that over-sample in the final normalized numbers) is because THAT IS WHERE THE DECISIVE DECISIONS ARE MOSTLY BEING MADE. Most registered Dems and registered Reps having long ago made their minds up.
