You mean voter registration that is false is not voter fraud. Voter fraud happens when some lies about their identity when voting .
We are talking about registration. Generally , if done above board, the register has no fool-proof way if knowing if the person registering is truthful or not. Most state laws require that any registration done by a third party be turned into the registrar of elections without change or delay. It is then up to that body to determine the truthfulness and accuracy of the regristration. If determined accurate and it is still fraudlent then it is the voter who is committing a crime. In the last six years only 24 people out of 178 million voters and more than several hundred million votes were judged guilty of voter fraud.
It is several thousand times more likely that a registration will be suppressed for some ,usually feeble, reason such as a misspelling, an address change, a small difference between the registration and a drivers lisence, etc, The GOP keeps using this crap to supress votes, especially new votes. The DEMs also do this from time to time but the GOP is masterful at it. IE the phony GOP voter purges in Florida in 2000 which knocked over 50,000 potentially eligible voters off the roles, many or most of whom were democrats..
I do think that the Dems have, in the past , done some other voter suppression stuff, but not at near the rate of the GOp. |
