well, tonto, let's be fair.

First, the Democrats really don't have an active majority. They have 50 Democrats and then there's Lieberman, who styles himself an Independent Democrat, but is actively supporting McCain.

Second, Republicans have used the filibuster more frequently in the last 2 years, than the filibuster was used in the last 10 years. A filibuster is a technique mostly used by the minority party to ensure a bill doesn't come up for a vote. The majority party can only overcome a filibuster with a 60 vote count. Therefore, for all practical purposes, we have had gridlock for the last 2 years.

So to blame Democrats for not getting much done in the last 2 years is partisan. We should be blaming both parties for not working effectively together to solve our biggest problems. If my department didn't work with other departments to solve problems, we'd be fired. We should be firing more of our leaders and bringing in people who know how to collaborate with people who have different perspectives, in order to get more done.
