I fully agree that she was within her legal authority to fire Monegan. She was also within her legal authority to buy ice cream cones. So what?

You fail to understand the basic point that the ethical violation had nothing to do with firing Monegan. Palin's focus on that is irrelevant and a red herring.

The violation of the ethics law was PRESSURING Monegan to fire Wooten, even though Wooten had already been disciplined for all his infractions.

So for Palin to keep saying she was authorized to fire Monegan ignores the fact that she was NOT authorized to have pressured Monegan to fire someone else based on her personal vendetta.

It's kind of like OJ saying he is innocent because he was acquitted of murder. Yes that's true, but irrelevant to the fact that he may spend his life behind bars because he was convicted of another crime.

Feel free to play ostrich though.
