EC we're talking about metals. China already uses about 3 TIMES as much copper and zinc as the US.

Increasing this at an approx geometric double digit rate.

The source is not increasing at a geometric, or arithmetic, or any rate at all. It is being Depleted at the inverse geometric rate.

Course we don't know where all the supply is yet, but the easy supply has been found, remainder is more and more costly to extract, and countries are grabbing control more and more as Don Coxe well points out. Seafloor is a possible exception. Doubt otherworld bodies can help.

As this disconnect is likely to last at least couple decades while Asia builds, some ting gotta give.

Price rationing; as started recently before this inconvenient panic interruption.
