Reagan actually increased the deficit by 2 trillion. 250 billion a year for eight years. Reagan was picked by a kitchen cabinet of very wealthy people. Guys like Casper Weinberger and George Shultz. Cap the knife took away from social programs and gave to military programs we did not need. Great idea! Reagan admitted his acting skills were very helpful. He was packaged and sold like a Car. Lee Atwater's southern Strategy to harness the evangelical right and the south's fury over integration was discraceful if you think about it. The rise of the neo cons. That is cynical and unhealthy. We see exactly the same behavior with MCCain and Palin. And the same ideas. Quite clearly actually. We need a man like George McGovern or Bobby or John Kennedy who have smarts, is tough and has grest compassion. Reagan had little compassion. He also had alzheimers which is detectable as early as one in their 20's, i.e. it is already affecting ones decision making.
