As for ACORN itself, imo, good intentions are not enough. When you deal with large sums of money, particularly when it includes taxpayer money, you have got to have a competent, reliable system in place.

I haven't really looked at the issue of whether they have such or not. I'm only saying that the worst argument I can see for what is going on is a lack of oversight. And that fits with the ACORN members I've worked with and known.

There is a counter argument which is that ACORN itself turned in most of the folk who are now the problem. Again, I'm only reporting what I've read so it should be taken as that. I've not done anything first hand with ACORN since the early 90s. And that was in Brooklyn and Philadelphia.

Whatever is involved, the ACORN issue is way over blown as an electoral issue. It's simply a desperate attempt to tarnish. Precisely as the Ayers issue is.
