Does any one know how to put a trailing stop on one of your holdings in ETrade? My portfolio was up like 25% today and I'd like to hold on to what I've got...

Yes.....you do a normal trade......under Order type: hit sell and then under Price type: hit trailing stop.......then you have a choice: by percentage or by dollar amount.

BTW I don't like trailing stops.......every time I've used it, I've gotten stung badly......the stop activates much lower than my stop price or the percentage amount I've put in. Plus, if your stock is an ETF short like DUG, its volatility will add to the disparity. You might ask others what their experience has been.

Which stock did you do well on today?
