Isn't the lump sum partly for overdue royalties? or is it all upfront licensing, for which amortization became the norm, if I understand it.

I believe that Q indicated that the upfront payment is going to be amortized from the day the previous license expired. I believe that will be recognized during the 4th quarter and amounts to 7-13 cents. The guidance for FY '09 was 20-28 cents which includes both the amortization and ongoing royalties.
