if he wanted to run against Bush he should have done so 4 years ago.
Early in the primaries against Hilary, the Obaman made it clear he was running against Bush. With an approval rating in the 20s, Bush is the perfect opponent. There is a candidate here for U. S. Representative holding up images of his opponent--Bush--in his ads.
After victory in the primaries, after events leading up to the convention, after the nomination, after the first debate, after the second debate, after the election is lost, McCain tells the Obaman, "I'm not President Bush."
Needless to say, it should have been done early and often. When the Obaman kept bringing it up, McCain, in a public forum, could have said: "There he goes again." He could have added at different times: My opponent doesn't even know who he is running against." |
