Well, if Joe's customers can't afford him, then he has no business. And it's transparent that Joe's customers are in very hard times now, ones in which the local and statewide economy have to be given a jolt. Moreover, Joe's business requires all sorts of infrastructure support without which he cannot function--health care, roads, bridges, etc. Joe's much better off paying a bit more in taxes so he can have a business than cutting his taxes and crippling his business.
