Joe's much better off paying a bit more in taxes so he can have a business than cutting his taxes and crippling his business.

He's better off paying more in taxes for infrastructure, if more is needed. Infrastructure is not the point. That's not the same as sharing his wealth with those designated by the government as more deserving of it than he is.

Crippling his business is making it harder for him to and his peers to support employees who can then pay him and his peers for goods and services. Sure, an occasional and well-timed government stimulus can crank up a sluggish economy, but the notion of redistribution of the wealth is not that.
