I don't oppose benefit payments. I don't want anyone to starve, either. I merely object to framing them as an entitlement, something to which citizenship conveys a right, rather than as largesse, or distorting in into a government act in Joe's best interest.

Are you against the same payments if they're called state pensions?

I think that anything to which people gain eligibility by paying specific taxes, which is how we handle our Social Security (pensions) and Medicare (health care), is different. The eligibility for those is not an entitlement of citizenship.
