I see the issue not so much as regulation, but enforcement of existing regulations. Remember how "shocked" everybody was when Enron had "gamed" the system?? Nobody should have been. We have competition, therefore businesses have to do what they can to make money within the law. Some of the things Enron did had been formally illegal since the '30s - round trip trading, false price reporting and the like. Of course the utilities were doing the same and they make big political contributions. We don't need new laws, we need good enforcement.

In about six months there will be a flood of books at Borders regarding the corruption surrounding Fannie and Freddie.
