More "freedom of speech" issues moved here from the main SEXI folder:

There have been several posts on the SEXI AOL folder which allude to
"stepped up" enforcement of alleged SEC type violations. I do not
know how much substance there is to these claims, but to my thinking
it raises some serious questions.

1) If AOL sees fit to get involved in the "accuracy" of statements
made on their boards, would that not open them up to liability if
they erroneously supress information? This seems like a huge can
of worms to me.

2) If they are indeed opening their account information up to the
SEC and other "enforcement" agencies, which they would be able to
do since it is a "private" network, doesn't there seem to be alot
of room for abuse by government officials to harass individuals
who express their OPINIONS on government agencies?

Nit picking? I think not, history has shown whatever powers that
are legally given, can and will be subject to abuse. And in issues
as important as freedom of speech, my general feeling is the less
government intrusion, the better!
