Sam doesn't make any real arguments for higher taxes. All he says is "I don't care about that".

"I know 20 of my gas station colleagues are about to declare bankruptcy. It's bad."

And raising taxes is only likely to make it worse, both directly if the owners have to pay more taxes, and indirectly as the cost of the tax increase drags down the economy more generally.

He seems to believe that cutting taxes for wealthy individuals

He believes correctly at least in general terms, and if the story is accurate, its likely correct for himself. But the issue at hand isn't tax cuts for the wealthy, its a proposed tax increase. Not having an increase isn't a cut.
