Like I said, his mistake for showing up on the government's radar and the radar of the left leaning media. He put a target on his back. This is always the way people who speak out against the popular political climate are silenced, by implementing laws that are in normal circumstances sporadically and selectively enforced. Do you really think that the public interest is being protected here? It's about making an example of someone who has the courage to point out that the King has no clothes on.

Plus, you don't ever want to wake up sleeping bureaucrats, they resent it and get even. I remember an old assistant of mine who got tired of his neighbor's bombed out abandoned car in the alley. He tried to appeal to the guy's sense of civic duty to no avail so he called the city office that hands out violations for such things. The asshole who showed up didn't ticket the offender with the car, but handed out tickets for various offenses to about six or seven of my guy's neighbors making him about the most popular guy on the block. Never underestimate how thoroughly you can get screwed by some low level civil servant counting hours until he gets his full retirement pension.
