Powell could be Secretary of Defense or Secretary of State in an Obama administration. He does not have to endorse Obama for it. If the general doesn't want either of those jobs he will be a resource and an adviser. It would not be surprising if Powell remained neutral in his presidential choice this Sunday. I will be more surprised if he does endorse. Then it would surely have to be Obama because Powell has the habit of gracious courtesy, calm and equanimity that we have seen in Obama through this long ordeal. A quick trigger like McCain would be a presidential nightmare to a temperate, thoughtful, diplomacy-oriented soldier like Colin Powell.
