Marubeni joins Vietnam’s coal-gasification project: report Last Updated: Tuesday, October 14, 2008 10:34:00 Vietnam (GMT+07) thanhniennews.com Marubeni Corp. formed a venture with Vinacomin-Nui Beo Coal JSC and Linc Energy Ltd. to test coal-gasification technology in Vietnam, the Nikkei newspaper reported without saying where it obtained the information. The three companies established a Vietnamese unit last Friday with funding of US$6.5 million, the report said. Gasification technology enables the conversion of low-quality coal into a synthetic gas for use in power generation, thereby reducing greenhouse-gas emissions. Source: Bloomberg
