TJ about the scarcity of gold at retail level think in this direction;

1. There is not a lot a cash around therefore minimum inventory
2. Bank anticipate more gold coming to market resulting in lower gold prices
3. Holding gold coins in inventory is a loosing proposition

The reason to sell gold by banks is to increase liquidity which is lacking and provide the cash for clients redemptions

After the cash market will go back to normal gold may rise again and strongly
