Nonetheless, Col Wilkerson also described Gen Powell as "a loyal soldier who owes a lot to some people in the Republican party" - a factor that could mitigate against an endorsement by a man not prone to gesture politics. I really hope that he will put country first. Anything short of endorsing Obama will be a blow to Obama's campaign, and will become the latest black person doing damage to Obama.
