We just saw W tonight. It pretty apparent why it's not doing well; it apparently was marketed to the wrong people.
It is neither the movie that people think it is, nor the one the left thinks should be made. It would probably appeal more to people on the right or middle, as it was quite sympathetic with W. It paints a picture of an insecure, troubled youth (not unlike Obama), attempting to please unsupportive parents, who eventually finds religion and purpose. However, it claims he was led astray in Iraq by the usual suspects: Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz.
An interesting, if overly long movie, that probably should have been made 10 years from now. If you can't stand giving Stone your movie, definitely catch it when it eventually comes to cable.
The Iraq portion was quite like the excellent 'Path to War', which details how LBJ was similarly bamboozled into Vietnam. Catch that one to see how Democrats can be just as stupid and gullible as Republicans when it comes to be suckered into war.
