Actually, the accretion is, in essence, a required dividend, which does not technically figure in to earnings. On the other hand, many people think of dividends on preferred stock as being pretty much like interest on long-term debt, which WOULD be an expense.

Leo, while I had hoped for better earnings, I really don't see how you can find much negative in it. I believe the markets will see it as a positive development.
