Clearly she should have been improving rapidly. So at the instant that she did not demonstrate rapid improvement, she should have have had ct scan of her chest and probably admitted.

I never regretted a single test I ever ordered, although I regretted a few I didn't order.

But please don't forget that a retrospectoscope is an easy instrument to use.

In other words it's very easy to go back and criticize when the diagnosis is known: "Why that was an obvious case of Zebra fever-let's sue"

Technically you'd have to show that the delay in the diagnoses led to an actual clinical deterioration. Probably did not but they'd almost certainly win a lawsuit.
