OK, so we all know that taxation without representation is a form of tyranny. Yeah, but is it UNFAIR? <g> At that point, the majority of Americans not paying taxes would elect leaders who decide how much the minority must fork over to the government — to be redistributed to the majority through government programs and services. As you know, that's long been one of my gripes about universal single-payer health care. I had done a rough calculation of what the ratio might look like if we did health care and paid for it out of income tax. I came up with a number upwards of 80%, as I recall, who wouldn't be paying income tax. That's all but guaranteed to trigger an attack on the golden-egg laying goose.
