NM seems to have broken a very short-term downtrend today. The trend, which extends back about 1.5 weeks, was reversed by today's price action. This may be insignificant, but there's another indicator that's bullish. The 200-day EMA has been supporting the stock for the past week and a half. NM hasn't been above this MA since summer 1996. This indicates that the stock is in the process of a bottoming reversal, which may last until tomorrow's earnings results. I've heard that they will be better than expected. Perhaps that's the rumor that's caused the stock to jump. If so, that's okay, because the next several quarters should be positive comparisons to those quarters in the previous year. In summary, NM seems to be exhibiting a reversal, both fundamentally and technically.
