Pakistan, a nuclear-capable power, is an ally. We couldn't very well attack an ally, though Obama seems to be hinting that we can.

The phrase "attack Pakistan" conjures up images of US soldiers invading the capital. That, of course, MM, is not what Obama has said. Rather that if the US can find Osama in the NW territories and the Pakistan military is either unwilling or unable to take him out, Obama would, as CIC, do so.
