In addition to monitors, NEC at one time was the leader in cutting edge laptop computers. They don't get as much attention due to competition, but I'm sure they still make high-quality laptops. In 1988 I bought an NEC Multispeed HD, which was an XT class laptop with back-lit LCD screen and 20MB hard drive. At the time, it was far more luxurious than the Toshibas, but of course it costed quite a bit more also. DK PS - Perhaps the person being critical of NEC is confusing NEC with Packard-Bell/NEC.
