I personally don't think it will be decisive one way or the other. I think it will be a cliffhanger, possibly one with greater constitutional hangups than we've yet seen.

A decisive win would mean that we avoid a spoiling aftermath.

A cliffhanger win for Obama might be advantageous for the Republicans in the long run because if they're smart they'll regroup and get rid of unsuccessful candidates and strategies. Sort of like they did when Newt Gingrich energized them.

A cliffhanger win for McCain will be disastrous because of reactions I suspect will be taken into the streets by Obama's less-than-thoughtful supporters. If McCain wins, I hope it is by a margin that can't be disputed in any way.

The worst case scenario would be a cliffhanger win for Obama and a super democrat majority in Congress. That way all the doubts thoughtful conservatives have about Obama's platform will be cast in concrete by the supermajority. I think it is unlikely, however.

In my view, the best outcome would be an indisputable win by McCain and a slight democrat majority in congress.

That way, McCain can't do anything the Democrats don't agree to, and they can't get the catastrophic outcome of a super majority with a decisive Obama win.

It's not clear to me why Obama refuses to supply incontrovertible proof that he is constitutionally eligible for the office. It seems simple enough to prove one way or the other, but his refusal lodges great doubts in my mind.
