The whole fire retardant thing happened in 2004 and it wasn't "crazy volatility all the time". I followed the stock then, since I owned it approximately at the same time. I don't remember if I got out before or during the whole fiasco.

Now it would take some time to dig out what happened and who was responsible. Insiders claimed that they never overpromised and it was outside pump job. Here is one of the press releases: sec.gov
