Peter, since I have been on this thread, I have appreciated your rational manner. Even when we disagree, you are always polite. I must say, however, that your comments remind me of an instructive story about investing. A number of years ago, an investor was heard to say that he wanted to "find the next Berkshire Hathaway" because Buffet had done so well and he couldn't see how he could ever "top himself. The moral of the story is that he shouldn't have been looking for the "next" Berkshire. He should have just went ahead and bought Berkshire, the real thing.

You're saying, in essence, that even though msft's core businesses are NOW showing growth of 40% to 50%, and the cfo has just finished guiding analysts HIGHER (I heard the conference call), you're sitting here saying, yeah, but what will they do next? Peter, this is it. This is a fantastic business, one of the best in the world. This business is growing. It's booming. You are asking the wrong question. Peter, this isn't complex. You just have to look at the facts that are staring you in the face. This is supposed to be the slack time, remember. Next year they get NT 5 and Win 98. So Pete, sit back, relax, and Be here, now.
