That is how people truly underestimated the power of the Spectre that is Sarah Palin. They were (and some remain) so captivated by the packaging and the bows that they overlook the lack of substance inside. That's what ephemeral political spirits are all about anyway.

Fortunately at least 55% of voters figured it out.
